ZBrush Final by Shimmering-Sword ZBrush Final by Shimmering-Sword
This was my Zbrush class final. Pretty sweet program. This is way more detail than I usualy work with but this is just scratching the surface of of the program.
Monster soldier thingy that I whiped up. Its full body but a closeup shows more detail.

Is this alien/monster race what's inside some of your armor suits with the cool elongated heads?

Nah, I just ripped the helm design from them for this assignment. Though I do have some monsterous guys that can wear them, just havent drawn them in a while or posted any on DA.

lulz yea. All you have to do is add one more dimention to your work and suddenly the whole control scheme has to change. Catch me on msn some time (not likely :( ) and ill show you the basics.

I think for someone who doesnt work in 3D this program is a good one. Its easy to think in terms of painting mass and you can work at high enough density to not wory about mesh flow and whatnot. Its only problem is that its not a good model starter, creating your starting shape is very hard in ZB.

sounds cool. is there a demo/learning edition or do you have to buy the full deal?

I alway get myself the "free" edition of software. Im too poor to buy pro software, and trial/education editions are crapy cutdowns.

I had to stare a minute before I could figure out if this was an actual clay model or digital. Excellent work

And thats a live render, ZB has great materials rendering. If you go to the ZBrush website you will see that you can sculpt stuff that looks completely real, with enought skill of course. Thanks.

So, did you have to model the entire thing in Zbrush, from primitive on up? I imagine hard surface modeling to be rather difficult in Zbrush.

Nah, I started the body in maya very low poly, then when it was done in ZBrush I took that back to maya to fit the hard surface to it. ZB is realy picky with geometry, it wants quads and renders poles like crap. It will take what you give it but for good rendering you need to work for it. I tried to do boots in ZB as they werent too hard surfacy, but that was a bad idea, it was hard work and they are pretty mushy.
