A soldier design I whipped up for my Ranger project a few days ago. A few people have been bugging me about battle ponchos, so here you have it.
The overcoat provides ballistic protection to the soldier by hardening on impact. It's looser fit compared to tightly worn soft armors mean it can afford to flex more during impact, making it more durable. This approach to protection leaves the soldier flexible in movement rather than restricted by hard plating.
Under the coat is a light muscle suit which gives the solder even more flexibility and protection.
Equipment that is needed quickly is held in pouches outside the coat, while additional gear and restocks are under the coat.
Advanced versions of this Cloak armor may utilize adaptive camouflage systems. The combination of illusion from patterns and silhouette are quite effective.
The weapon shown is a light weight machine gun that fires high velocity ammunition. This balance of mobility, range, and volume fire capability complement the soldiers flexibility in multiple environments.
