Another one shot painting to demo what's going into Rangers Project: The Protectorate Wars digital art book. This time a conventional combat mech, armed with a variety of autocannons.

This is such an impressively well done drawing. The lighting is superb and so is the refracted colours from the snow beneath. Bravo!

Reminds me of a taller version of the Heavy Gear Mammoth Strider. It looks great, though.

The body reminds of the EPA's from F.E.A.R. 3, looks really good

Can you tell me, if you used a 3d model, a reference of some sort, to create this one?
Or is completely, from scratch to finish, created from imagination.
I struggle with my art, and i am caught in a vicious circle.
Thanks.

For a lot of my quality work I do start with a 3D base for my vehicles, this one was all freehand though. I did have a photo reference to look at for color/atmosphere reference.

I absolutely love this work. The composition is spot on, but what I LOVE... LOVE... about this piece is your application of colour. The colours carry a weight of truth, correctness. It looks, believable. The colour choices are so good, you may have inspired me, to start airbrushing my latest models with the same colour theme. This is good. Really good.

Bravo!
