Haven't drawn an Elemental or Nayora (and her suit Diya) for a while, so here she is. The shown equipment specializes in combating her genomod soldier offshoots who she shares blood with. Gun them down, cut them down, or they will do the same.
Hey I'm a really big fan of your work. I especially love the elementals. They remind me of dragons, which i am a really big fan of. Where do you get the inspiration for your characters? If you could give a few tips about how to make a nice looking super soldier that would be nice.
i freaking LOVE this helmet design. the whole of the armor over all really... i read on some comment somewhere (lol) that the design for these guys took a lot of tweaking. how many designs would you say you went through, roughly, before you settled on this one?
guns look intimidating as well, the revolver style gives off a familiar sense of power.
a question about the ghost arms, excuse the terminology lol, are they supposed to be a representation of her attitude? or just an option for another pose you had in mind? or something else?
The arms are made of the same energy shield that would otherwise be used for defense (so offensive shields). They are an extra set of arms that she can use in combat. She could simply form floating blades of heat, but Elementals like to show off a bit.
It takes a while to refine good looking armor. My Elementals and other armor used to look like junk, but they've been redesigned many times as my skills improve. Of course now I'm pretty good at designing stuff on the spot, but sometimes you just need to use lots of trial an error, you'll learn from it. Be sure to use lots of reference, some scifi/art is ok (just try not to look like a copy), real life is full of good looking armor and such too.
I used to not reference either, but trust me, every professional artist references almost all the time. Start using references and inspirations and you'll also be one step closer to that pro level. Imagination is a great thing, but your mind will have trouble visualizing something that it has not studied before.
At the base of the mechanical side is a (for the most part) normal power armor suit, just geared toward mobility and using high tech materials, nothing ground breaking there. What sets it apart from most other power armor is a shielding system, which the pilot and a paired AI can learn to use more intricately as time goes on. So a fresh Elemental is just an advanced armor suit with a weak barrier/dome shield, by the time they plateau in their skills they can likely form solid walls and offensive attack forms.
Wow, If this armor were able to be put into production... the possibilities of wardare. And if the user and AI were to master the element system they would become a one man army. You pictures 'Mass Element' and 'Land Hard, Save Harder' just shows the immense capabilities and versatility of the armor and system. Thankyou for answering my question.
