Contact - Triton Base by Shimmering-Sword Contact - Triton Base by Shimmering-Sword
Here's another piece of header/banner artwork for the Contact: Terror from the Deep expansion book. Shown is a Triton ocean base. Triton is the aquatic arm of the Omega program responsible for combating alien threats. What you can see above water is only the bases aircraft hangars, with a transport helicopter landing before rough weather sets in. Submerged is a much larger portion of the base, essentially a small city hidden away from the public eye.

I'm amused by the use of the name Triton. I wonder if this is an intentional nod to the Triton troop-transport sub from the appropriate X-COM sequel...

Contact has a lot of references to x-com, but Triton is probably just the mythological reference, it's a common name for oceanic stuff.

You know, I'm not really the mecha type, can't draw a straight line to save my life and I have no idea what perspective is. But whenever I come across your art I want to favorite everthing. It's not only very well constructed, but what amazes me most is how you dominate light, contrast, colors, etc, the atmosphere is top notch. Like how illuminated this night scene looks, my eyes are so happy hahah. And in every single piece. Also your shading looks so very well blended (which I can't even figure out how is possible to do on photoshop).
By the way, have you ever painted or thought of painting the exosuit/mech from district 9 by any chance? (forgive my ignorance in asking this)

Thanks for the kind words :)

I haven't done much fan art in general. Technically I do a lot of battletech fanart but I also work for them officially at times. The main reasons I don't do any is there are a lot of people that already do fanart, and the other is I do so much paid work that when I finally do something on my own time I just want to work on my own story.

You're welcome ^^
Oh I understand, thanks for the reply! The last and maybe only mecha I saw and went "Oh god how cool is THAT THING!" was the one from that movie (which I've only watched this year), hahah so I had to wonder, sorry but thanks and I'll come back to check your work =)

Best place to hide something plain site.  For the world is a oceanic research facility.  For the real stuff a base of operations.  Wow great disguise.  But is the weather that made me drool.  So real wow you are gifted!!!
