Contact - Sub Prep by Shimmering-Sword Contact - Sub Prep by Shimmering-Sword
Here's one of the non-banner illustrations for the Contact: Terror from the Deep book. This expansion featured a lot more shots showing non combat/military scenes which is a nice change, and lucky for me the setting didn't involve a lot of my nemesis, painting cities :D

Here, a research submarine prepares for a dive along side it's mother ship, the Blue Shimmer (what I did, you see it?).
As with a lot of my work these days, this painting utilizes a 3D base model and some photo manipulation.

I see it. :XD: Nice sub, but I don't want to be riding in it when a humungous alien squid comes along to drag it down to the depths and crush it like a tin can.  Which I am sure will happen sooner or later. :D So, cities are your nemesis?  Is it 'cause there are too many buildings?  I say nuke the city from orbit, than you only have to paint the flaming ruins!!

I love to see peaceful scenes once in a while, without power armored super soldiers and aliens running amuck all over the place.this artwork definitely establishes the setting.
a quite day before the coming of the storm.gets me excited.

This book has a good number of peaceful or at least non combat illustrations.

I see what you did there.

It's because the water's blue.  And shimmery.

Although rarely used, sometimes the extra rules and fluff of the civilian sector really flesh out a universe, at least for the rulebooks/sourcebooks.

I tend to trying minimizing brush strokes. Once you get down too small it's hard to blend.

Haha, most of the water detail is a photo texture with some painting over to make it blend in.
