Contact - Power Armor Minigun by Shimmering-Sword Contact - Power Armor Minigun by Shimmering-Sword
Woo power armor. Was a lot of work but also fun and very satisfying to see completed.
A suit plated in armor using composites derived from alien tech, it can bring weapons to the field that would otherwise have to be mounted on vehicles. It's your own personal tank.

Contact designs are not for personal or commercial use, no derivative works please.

Is this modeled after the Helghast heavy trooper?

Nope.

The inherent flaw with a rapid fire weapon is that its ammunition inefficient. A portable coilgun would be more effective in terms of range, accuracy, penetration, and possible additional fire modes, such as high velocity flechettes bursts would anti-light infantry.

But then you wouldn't have a minigun.

The point is it's a minigun, just because.

The point is that that a minigun is cool, but impractical.  In fiction everyone wants a minigun, but in reality its not man-portable not just for weight. miniguns have rates for fire of 2000-6000 rounds per minute. a single soldier cant carry the 1000+ rounds necessary to fuel those hogs just because the mass would require massive drums of ammunition. they would be more like terror weapons.

here are some weapon configurations:
automatic grenade launcher (multiple uses)
anti-material rifles (anti-vehicle and anti-power armor)
paired assault weapons (one for each arm allowing multi-directional fire)
flamethrower(hey you got the minigun terror weapon)
missile launchers(whatever you feel like loading up)

and then you have some more future weapons like a plasma, electromagnetic, laser, etc.

This is scifi, campy scifi, where rule of cool is all that matters. Practicality and effectiveness are non issues.

If you're looking for counter points though, take note this is power armor, it doesn't care about "man portable". The suit carries that gigantic drum of ammo you speak of, and it could easily computer stabilize the gun for perfect accuracy.

All the weapons you list are just other options, none better than the other, and all of them are available for this suit.

I dont know what youre power armor is rated it. a 5.56mm minigun weights 120lbs+ with a full load of gun, battery, backpack and 200 belt.

I dont even know what caliber that gun is. if its a 30mm rotary cannon it would be much, much larger at around 20feet long, 10 feet just for the barrels.

Portability should be something you should care about, as power armor without mobility is still a target, especially in unconventional tactics. magnetic mines for example would be perfect to take down plodding tincan troopers.

Im really just making suggestions to turn this into a series of ideas rather than one single drawing. For example the variety of weapons for different purposes suggestion I made. Light, medium, and heavy power armor. Different roles such as stealth, walking artillery, high mobility, etc.

Your art is very good and there no way i could make anything close.
