Contact - Combat Drone by Shimmering-Sword Contact - Combat Drone by Shimmering-Sword
Woot, super happy Contact mecha time!
Here's the Roach multi purpose combat drone. 4 all terrain wheeled legs and 2 manipulator arms give it great versatility in motion and interaction. A 25mm cannon provides threatening anti armor potential and a LMG allows it to hunt and suppress infantry.

Something like this would look cool with some oblong rollers/treads. Yes, I know it would limit terrain versatility, but I'm thinking more along the lines of use in buildings and ships.

Aren't the wheels on it's feet same same idea?

I'm confused by the statement on the bottom of the description. Are you saying I can't do anything with this image? I am wanting to practice my 3D modeling and I really like this design and would love to model it. I don't see how there could be any legal issues since it's for educational use.

That was to help protect the artwork before the book made it to publication. Now that it's been printed you should be fine to use Contact artwork for personal practice.

Simple, elegant, practical. I rwally like your use of highlights to bring out the contours, as well.

I prefer power armor or mechs when it comes to controllable robots, but this is rather good.

Do keep this up would you kindly?

Would not want to meet this little bruiser on the battlefield. How big is this drone? Based on the size of the LMG, I guess it is about four feet tall. I love the robot's posture- it looks as though it sees something it does not like...

For some reason reminds me of the MGS4: a mix of the Gekkos and Hal little robot.
I would have prefered something like this in the game, or any game as an enemy, pretty old school enemies but in modern times :D

That one is close, though if you watch the Stand Alone Complex series' (which are great) there are smaller Think Tanks too.

This makes me want to think about creating a new video game that draws inspiration from Blaster Master (the SOPHIA parts at least). with the player controlling something like this.

I really like the design. Good locomotion system for an urban environment, it can roll down streets on its wheels and even climb stairs with those legs.

By derivative works, you mean?

Hmmm, why wouldn't i surprised to see that one on the battlefields one day? That robot looks like it would give most generals a raging hard on having it for real.
Anyway, great Pic and Design, keep it up!

I think this kind of bot is very plausible unlike most mecha. The BigDog robot will most likely have weaponised versions when it goes into production :)
