BioMecha Redraw by Shimmering-Sword BioMecha Redraw by Shimmering-Sword
Was looking through my gallery tonight to see if anything desperately needed scrapping. Half of it does :D
Looking at my old crap I got to wondering how much better and faster I could turn out the same concept. Heres the first of hopefully a few of these studies, an old bio mech [link]

Didn't get it done much faster, 1.5hr compared to 2hr original. The up-res on detail was my main focus, being aware of finer working at the joints, and using better forms.
Not so happy with my fattening it up, but I'll deal.

Looks a lot like "mecha", but too little like "Bio".

i dont think i needs fattening up it looks nice and fast and seems optimal for a spatial insertion into combat zones if it utalizes that shielding like ele rangers do or so i think

Bio-punk(?) always has a dark "tone", which is perfectly exemplified in this artpiece.

For this one, it would either be remotely controled, or the pilot would be curled up in its upper torso, controled by a neural connection to the brain. :)

Ok, you can pilot the conventional mechs. Plugs in the back of your head never went well with the ladies anyway :D

that is not such a surprise because when you said neural control i always get the picture of the matrix in my mind :XD:

Haha, yea its much like that, but the plug/s would be small, not that huge drill probe they screw in, THAT is nasty.

you shouldn't sell yourself short. As well as shaving 30 min you also managed to make a more detailed mech that has more presence in black and white than the other did with those dynamic red and green tones. :3

Yea I wasn't sure if I would get a decent result in short time if I used color. This technique of mine works nicely for mixing design work with mid level rendering. My only gripe was that it looks a little slower now that its gained a little weight.

Btw, hows school? (might want to note me incase its a long convo)

I think if you knocked off the shoulder plates it would be lighter.
And school's fine. not much to tell. I have a year left and am starting my portfolio. Taking quick sketch, it's lots of hard yet fun work. Oh! and i'm moving my focus to flash animation specifically. :3

Quick sketch rawks, still run by Lee I assume? He's a sick artist and teacher.
Well good luck getting the degree done, beat me to it.

I was looking at my old work recently as well. I had not created any art for so long I managed to get worse lol. I don't dare post anything new until I clean off some more rust. :P Hopefully I'm heading back in the right direction.
