Bio Mech Assault by Shimmering-Sword Bio Mech Assault by Shimmering-Sword
Part of last nights LiveStream, stretching my mecha muscle.

Bio Synthetic Battle Mechs.
Electro elastic ribbon bundles provide primary locomotion in place of the common hydraulic motor. They provide a wide range of motion from a single joint, allowing very fluid and human-like motion. The bundles are resilient to damage, only loosing the power of severed fibers, where a motor might be paralyzed by such a hit.
While stick and throttle controls with aid of nav AIs can allow a standard pilot to control a biomech, full synchronized motion can only be achieved through a neural link. Siphoning off nerve impulses to the pilots body, the mech becomes an extension of the pilot.
Capable of terrifyingly effective close combat, biomechs are the king of urban warfare.

Ha ha, I could tell this was one of your drawings before I even clicked on it. :D Bio-synthetic mechs, cool... they are working on synthetic muscles for real-world applications, from what I here, may not be so long till someone weaponized 'em.

AH! ive been looking for a nimble movement system! thank you for the idea! Hydraulics just seem so last century if you know what I mean lol xD. Would these bundles act much like the muscles of a human body? .Btw if you are looking for a critique, the feet look a bit off for the function of movement, I mean don't nimble mechs such as this need at least bigger feet for more surface area of stability? Or is there a hidden funciton in the picture in which each toe of the "foot" has a grooved spike or at least adhesive gel that sticks to any surface?

The small feet are purely aesthetic in design, they would indeed need to be bigger to function properly.

While I hold this sketch and design in very high regard, I must express my enjoyment of the apparent "prancing" action exhibited by this mech as juxtaposed with its cruel, calculating appearance and dual-weilding of PDWs.

You make an effective argument for Bio Synthetics over conventional hardware we will take an initial 500 units with an expected projection of an additional 10,000

this pic shows a verry flowing and A-symmetrical design the only thing I would question is the tiny feet they seem anti manuverable during high speed tactics

Yah, I was messing around with feet on this one. Light extremities give a better feel of agility, but I agree this thing would do badly for traction.

man, can't believe I missed the LS of this. as has been mentioned before, the legs look a bit odd. I think it's because the lowerlegs are so short compared to the upper and the ankles and feet are tiny compared to the rest of the mecha. glad to see someone else using a neural interface with mecha piloting, I never bought the whole lever +macro buttons +computer = fluid and precise human movements.
the use of synthetic muscle is nice given all the obvious benefits. the only reason I don't use them myself for the MFL mecha is that it would make them look too 'eva-like'

i like everything but that front leg, the curve is a little too emphasized for my taste :/ it comes across as if its slipping.. other than that i really like the design!

Pilot would stand about half way up its lower leg. Curling up in a cockpit located somewhere in that torso :D (undecided)

Humm...

The way it works is somehow similar to a battlemech (from battletech) ...

Now I kinda understand why are they so resistant and powerfull :)

Very much the same idea. But the way battletech mech joints go, they don't look designed for those myomers. I mean it's possible to use them differently to how our muscles lay out, but seems odd.

Good point.

probably the problem is somehoe related to the designers, has they try to make it look "military" and credible, but somehoe forget the technology behind the machine.
Actually, I like the designs in MW4, but there is this incostinecy with the desgin and the myomer technology.

You ever consider doing something three dimensional with these designs of yours? 3d print, or just simply a 3d model?

I only ask because I love the forms of all of these mechs and suits you draw. Their overall shapes lend to a great silhouette.
