Battletech - The Horsemen by Shimmering-Sword Battletech - The Horsemen by Shimmering-Sword
A commission for ~KeaponLaffin20

2 Mechwarrriors sit under their mechs enjoying a beer, brothers that make up The Horsemen mercenary unit.
The Catapult has been upgraded with 2 Artemis IV LRM20 launchers while the Hunchback has traded it's autocannon for a gauss rifle and a tag laser in it's head can paint targets for the Cat.

Artemis IV and TAG?
Why would you do that? TAG only works with Semi-G missiles. Meaning that Cat has a bin or two of Semi-G instead of Art IV missiles.

Huh, now that I think about it, it's not actually that bad of an idea. Just a bit inefficient.

The commissioner plays MWO, where TAG buffs all missiles, rather than just being used for Semi-G and Arrow missiles.

Something just occurred to me...  How are chicken-walker legs' knees protected?  The joint's concave side faces forward, with all the exposed parts needed for its movement range exposed to enemy fire from the most likely direction the pilot wants to be facing.  Man-walkers have the advantage of knee guards...

Technically, the concave side getting hit is far less endangered of suffering damage, the convex, since it has a way to draw back from the impact.
I have read somewhere that the Terran Hegemony developed reverse-joint mechs in an atempt to reduce the fragility of mech knees.
The clans feature many "chicken-leg" mech designs, but in general, same said source told that humanoid legs are easier to use for the MechWarrior and a more plesant sight.

Overlapping/sliding plates. In tabletop "through armor critical" hits are an effect that would describe occurrences of gunfire hitting weak spots. Legs suck period as a motive type, so I don't worry about the little things.

Once again I am reminded why you are tied for first as my favourite battletech artist! I am already working on a catapult 3D model using the orthographic that PGI released. Mind if I try my hand at your own torso design?

Even though they can be hard to find, you're not supposed to upload anything to DA that isn't your property. I'd recommend you take them down.

Lots of people don't understand this rule, it's clearly stated in DA rules of what you can post, it needs to be something you have rights to (that you made or bought). No need to break the rule because others do, they don't understand it either. The main point? DA is your personal art gallery, not an image hosting site. There are plenty of other websites out there made for posting images that aren't yours, keep DA clean.

Rules wise it prevents internal explosions from transferring inward, this includes explosive weapons blowing up.

Aha, so it is better to have torso mounted Gauss rifles in TT than it is in MWO or MWLL

In tabletop "through armor criticals" are a common thing. In case you don't know, that means weapons fire destroying your internals even when you still have armor. So your explosive stuff is never absolutely safe, rather than put ammo in your legs or gauss in your arms to keep it away from your engine, you put them in your side torsos where you at least have CASE to prevent the explosion spreading.

That is the prettiest Catapult I've ever seen, bar none. Not hugely keen on the Hunchback as a rule - the more rigidly humanoid Mechs tend to put me off a little bit, but yours at least looks fairly balanced, and I do love the big gun~ ;p
The scot in me is overjoyed at basically the entire image, too.
