Battletech - The Horsemen by Shimmering-Sword Battletech - The Horsemen by Shimmering-Sword
A commission for ~KeaponLaffin20

2 Mechwarrriors sit under their mechs enjoying a beer, brothers that make up The Horsemen mercenary unit.
The Catapult has been upgraded with 2 Artemis IV LRM20 launchers while the Hunchback has traded it's autocannon for a gauss rifle and a tag laser in it's head can paint targets for the Cat.

Artemis IV and TAG?
Why would you do that? TAG only works with Semi-G missiles. Meaning that Cat has a bin or two of Semi-G instead of Art IV missiles.

Huh, now that I think about it, it's not actually that bad of an idea. Just a bit inefficient.

The commissioner plays MWO, where TAG buffs all missiles, rather than just being used for Semi-G and Arrow missiles.

Something just occurred to me...  How are chicken-walker legs' knees protected?  The joint's concave side faces forward, with all the exposed parts needed for its movement range exposed to enemy fire from the most likely direction the pilot wants to be facing.  Man-walkers have the advantage of knee guards...

Technically, the concave side getting hit is far less endangered of suffering damage, the convex, since it has a way to draw back from the impact.
I have read somewhere that the Terran Hegemony developed reverse-joint mechs in an atempt to reduce the fragility of mech knees.
The clans feature many "chicken-leg" mech designs, but in general, same said source told that humanoid legs are easier to use for the MechWarrior and a more plesant sight.

Overlapping/sliding plates. In tabletop "through armor critical" hits are an effect that would describe occurrences of gunfire hitting weak spots. Legs suck period as a motive type, so I don't worry about the little things.
