This is my submissions to an unofficial design contest over on the Mechwarrior Online forums. The objective was to redesign the Marauder heavy mech to match the MWO art style and avoid the legal similarity issues with the Macross Glaug officers pod. Mostly a refit of my existing redesign, it's hard to escape that one after painting it so many times.
In non battletech news, my Rangers digital art book kickstarter is still running and needs support, go check it out: www.kickstarter.com/projects/1…
MY CALLSIGN WAS MAVERICK AND MY MECH WAS THE TALONRIDDER!
I'm now wondering how the Warhammer/Tomahawk would look given a similar update.......
You got something against the clans~? o:
*Is part of clan Wolf.*
in that case ... why not just take the the Stalker model put proper arms and a sidegun on it ...
i mean come on they did it with the catapult: catapult->madcat/timberwolf->viking(?)
and it kinda looks stalker-ish to me already honestly not by hugh margin or anything but it goes in that direction ...
anyhow still nice work as always ...
i probably wasnīt clear on the context i meant it on the subjekt to not get into legal issues with harmony gold
however if itīs because of lorereasons ... well then ok ...
"none of them have the same torso."
right but some are similar and also seem to use other similar parts
considering catapult and madcat the later is actualy "just" a catapult with additional arms, no? (at least to me)
i personaly donīt see much of an issue with designing a mech/tank/weapon based on another older design or reuse parts of it ..
for instance what exactly (aside from maybe lack of creativiy and awkward looks) speaks against taking the stalkertorso taking away its rocketpacks and replace them with atlasarms (just as example) to it?
Or at least if this turns out to be the model that Piranha uses for the Marauder anyway. I'll certainly heavily consider scrapping my current Atlas variant I use in favor of a Marauder that looks like this. I love the look of the Marauder as you've portrayed it. It's got all the right landmarks and there's no mistaking it for anything other than a Maurauder, but it's lost that spindly-to-bulky look of the Robotech design that it was based on.
Now it looks positively saurian, like an over-sized T-rex armed with a pair of lightning guns. What more could any Mechwarrior want really?
Bravo, excellent work.
Heck, I'd rather have these than the original Macross design.
i have not used a legged-bullet mech since beta (when the dual Gauss Cat K2 was king)
*With lasers and a cannon.
you forgot the most important part : /
