I like this much more than the original Archer (I think it was the Spartan Destroid in Robotech?) which always looked a little goofy to me. Those huge hands were kind of funny though, it had all these long range missiles and was kind of a stand off support unit but if you got close it was like 'come here, I'm going to punch your mech in the face!' Your design is much more menacing, looks like it means business. Wolf's Dragoons are cool too, I loved the whole storyline of them having to fight their way out of the employ of House Kurita. Always suspected they had something to do with the Kerensky Exodus...
I agree with you (and you are right, itīs the Spartan Destroid, build for close combat). But while WD are cool, i have a soft spot for underdogs, like the Grey Death trying to rebuild, or Archerīs Avengers, always up against superior numbers.
Yes but I fell away from Battletech especially after the Clan Invasions storyline started, I did read through William H. Keith's 'Warstrider' series and some of the Renegade Legion books though. Some of my favourite military SF is by British author David Mace, but I haven't read anything in the genre for a while.
Excellent work! If you ever get the chance could you do the King Crab classic? You know. LRM 15 pack, large laser and the two Deathgiver AC 20? Personal favorite mech due to power and just having a rather unorthodox body shape.
